[Mnbird] Who is the grebe's friend here?

Hi Folks

I know what I *think* the grebe's friend is, but I've only seen the species
as a breeding male in May in New York state.  In 1978.  Any opinions?
Note: the duck eventually got annoyed with the grebe and chased it away...
