7:40 p.m. and lasting until a few minutes after 8:00. They were
heading south, from the northwest. Last year about this time of year, I
heard this too - but many fewer than the hundreds I observed last
night.</font></div>

<div><br></div>Hello, MnBirders:<br>Went out to fill a bird feeder last night,
around 8:15 p.m. and was<br>surprised to hear the calls of many gulls. Looking
up, I watched<br>wave after wave of gulls pass overhead, there must have
been<br>hundreds of them flying over the northwest corner of St. Paul.<br>Later,
around 9 p.m. a friend in Minneapolis, near the Lake St.<br>Bridge, heard and
saw a similar phenomenon.<br><br>I’ve never seen anything like this before, and
wonder if it was<br>unusual (high numbers of gulls, flying in the dark) and
