There was a nest about 300 feet from my house last year, and the birds were very visible, all the time. This year, nothing, though I do see one occasionally in the neighborhood. Kestrels have nested in past years in some of my wood duck boxes. The clean up of all the excrement they deposited on the walls was a chore. We tried though. The next year, someone two blocks away reported accipiters nesting. I have lived here for almost 18 years and each year there is a family of Coopers Hawks. They usually are year round with young ones in the Spring/Summer. They are very vocal and I did locate the nest in a yard a few houses down. This year, I have not heard or seen a Coppers Hawk. Any ideas as to why? I can't see through the trees if the nest is still there.
