<p>Here are some of the species observed on the Minnesota Birding Weekend to St. Louis and Lake counties and a few birds observed prior to the trip.</p>

<p>St. Louis County - 1/14</p>
<p>American Black Duck - Canal Park</p>
<p>Long-tailed Duck - Canal Park</p>
<p>Ruffed Grouse - Observed in a number of locations in the Sax Zim bog.</p>
<p>Sharp-tailed Grouse - 7 were observed at the Lek along East side of CR 229, North of Racek Road.</p>
<p>Mourning Dove - Observed in a Conifer across the street from Mary Lou's house in the Sax Zim bog.</p>
<p>Ring-billed Gull - 1 observed at Canal Park</p>
<p>Herring Gull - 4 observed at Canal Park.</p>
<p>Great Gray Owl - Two were observed along Lake Nichols Road.</p>
<p>Northern Shrike - 4 were observed in different locations in the Sax Zim bog.</p>

<p>Purple Finch</p>
<p>White-winged Crossbill - A small flock was observed along CR 52(Arkola Road), 1/4 mile East of CR 203(Owl Avenue).</p>

<p>Lake County 1/13 & 15</p>
<p>Red-breasted Merganser - Agate Bay, Two Harbors</p>
<p>Spruce Grouse - Tomahawk Road, about 1.5 miles from MN 1. Observed at 12:30 pm, feeding at the top of a Red Pine tree. </p>
<p>Black-backed Woodpecker</p>
<p>1/13 - Tomahawk Road, about 1.5 miles from MN 1.</p>
<p>1/15 - CR 2, 3.1 miles South of the Sand River, or 7.7 miles South of MN 1.</p>
<p>1/15 - MN 1, . 7 miles East of the Tomahawk Road.</p>
<p>Northern Shrike</p>
<p>Gray Jay</p>
<p>Boreal Chickadee - Near the Greenwood Lake public boat access.</p>
<p>American Robin</p>
<p>Bohemian Waxwing - A single bird was observed across the street from the Holiday Gas station on the East end of Two Harbors.</p>

<p>St. Louis County - 1/15</p>
<p>Golden-crowned Sparrow - Was observed at the usual location at 7:20 am and flew off at 7:30 am.</p>

<p>Our group missed, the Eurasian Tree Sparrow and a few of the other recently reported species from the area.</p>
