In 2023, the WRC had 18,808 patients. Executive Director Tami Vogel, her staff and multitudes of volunteers do outstanding work. A sobering note was the 78% mortality rate registered after window strikes. We got good views of them with their small beak, faint eyeline and bright yellow undertail coverts. I was a bit surprised to see them in that habitat, and then to see them dive into the corn fields lining the road. I guess it bears out the truth of this statement on https://www.allaboutbirds.org/guide/Orange-crowned_Warbler/id: "During migration you may find them in nearly any habitat, though they still show a preference for dense, low vegetation."
