[Mnbird] Odd looking robin

I saw what I thought was the oddest looking immature Robin this morning on
my porch roof. I was looking out of my 2nd story windows. It had strange,
for a Robin, head markings and a black bib on its breast. I think, though I
didn't think to get a photo due to trying to memorize it's markings to look
it up, that it is a varied thrush.
It looked pretty exact to the image of an immature bird on All About Birds
site.

But what is it doing in my Minnesota porch roof? And immature leads to the
assumption that there was or is a breeding pair.

I am in north eastern Wright County, in St Michael. My land is heavily
treed and I sit on the Crow River, across from Crow Hassan park.
