[Mnbird] 50 blue jays?

Probably coming from Iowa to a northern Minnesota Destination.

Unusual sight last evening: 50 blue jays (approximately counted when 
they flew away) gathered in a few trees near our property about 7pm. 
They foraged for about 5 minutes in the trees and in a field that held 
corn last year, then flew off.

What would prompt such a large gathering?
