Yes, as seen in the terrific hummingbird numbers here. 

Traditionally I look for fall migrants 
8/15 daily at Prairie Island Winona.

Last night Birdcast clocked  45000 at 11ish here. 145000 crossed through Winona county last night. Likely not ducks.

McNally landing at PI is especially beautiful today.  A close patch of lotus. Walk to the river for good numbers of cardinal flowers and close in wild rice in dappled light.

The barges are being moved frequently. In one hour a dramatic change.  From Prairie Island Road there were few gulls. Best gull roosting times would be 7 am or before, late afternoon and evening and weekends. 

I did not see the booby.
