[Mnbird] Active Morning

I was surprised to see so much activity in my yard this morning: Canada Warblers, redstarts, a single ovenbird and a hermit thrush.

All were interested in the bird baths.

Also, our first purple finches of the fall showed up on Monday, which seems very early - will have to consult my phenology records ...


And, on a more bizarre note, I had an odd experience yesterday. Was surprised to see the mealworms weren't being consumed. Went over to see what was happening and... Yellowjackets are taking them! I cannot believe it. Never seen this before. It's creepy and yet I couldn't stop watching. Never would I have thought this would happen.
