Field trip Report


There are lots of birds down at the Old Cedar Avenue Bridge.  There are still a few species of Ducks on Long Meadow Lake and there was still a Sandhill Crane on the nest out from the board walk.  There were also Shorebirds out from the board walk and on Kidder Marsh, which is just East of the parking lot. Warblers were also present in good numbers.  Here are a few of the species observed by our group:


Wood Duck

Gadwall

Blue-winged Teal

Northern Shoveler

Horned Grebe

Great Blue Heron
Great Egret
Cooper's Hawk

Bald Eagle - Including some on there nest
Sora - Heard only

Sandhill Crane

Killdeer

Dunlin

Pectoral Sandpiper

Long-billed Dowitcher

Greater Yellowlegs

Lesser Yellowlegs

Forster's Tern

House Wren

Blue-gray Gnatcatcher

Northern Waterthrush - Heard only

Nashville Warbler

Palm Warbler

White-crowned Sparrow

White-throated Sparrow

Here are the dates of some upcoming MNWR bird walks.  The walks begin at 8:00 am and there is no fee for the walk.

May 16 - Bass Ponds
