Report from the cabin on Platte Lake, Crow Wing County
Sunday: temp 44 & windy

We had set up provisions for the birds and observed the following from the
comfort of the cabin:
Scarlet tanager (at the suet feeder!)
Catbird (fought the tanager for suet privileges)
Baltimore Oriole
Goldfinches
Pine siskins --perhaps 12
Rose breasted Grosbeak, female
W.B. nuthatch
Sapsucker
Blue Jays
Hairy Woodpecker
Pileated Woodpecker
Downy Woodpecker
Red -winged Blackbird
Swainson's thrush (at suet feeder)
Yellow-rumped warblers, a small wave
Woodduck pair
Loon

It hardly seemed right to enjoy such a variety of birds without walking in
the cold, but a nice treat for Mothers Day.
