This is a leisurely hike on a little known state forest trail on an old railroad bed through river bottom forest near where the Canon River meets the Mississippi River near Redwing. We will be looking for early migrants and Cuckoos which nest in the area.
> This hike is free and open to all. No need to contact me to let me know you will be joining us. Just show up. Make sure you bring insect repellent, although if you wish to volunteer as mosquito bait, you will be welcome. Bring a lunch if you wish to join us for an after lunch destination, as yet undetermined.
> Directions: From Highway 52, take Highway 50 towards Redwing. This road is absorbed by Highway 61 and becomes a four lane highway, which comes down a major hill to cross the Canon River. After you pass the turn-off for the casino, make a left at the next intersection (CR 46) near the BOTTOM of the hill. Take the fork to the right (Collischan Road). Follow the road about two and a half miles and take the fork to the left into the parking area for the trail head.
